Post office announces holiday schedule
Most Post Office retail counters in the Lakeland District of the U.S. Postal Service, which covers most of the state of Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan, will close at noon on Friday, July 3, to enable retail employees to spend more time with their families. Regular mail delivery for July 3 will be unaffected by the change. Post Office Box mail access will be available.
“As many businesses close early on July the number of customers visiting our lobbies greatly diminishes,” said Rhinelander Postmaster Darlyn Jackson. “We view this as an opportunity to afford retail employees more time with their families by closing retail operations in most of our locations early on July 3.”
“The Automated Postal Center will be available 24/7 for purchasing stamps and mailing packages,” Jackson added.

The Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit will close at noon and Passport application processing will be from 10 a.m. until noon on July 3.
Post Office retail counters will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2009 (Independence Day — a federal holiday) and there will be no mail delivery. Post Offices’ retail counters will resume regularly scheduled hours of operation on Monday, July 6.

Lots to do during the busy 4th of July weekend
Our Stifel Nicolaus float is ready and my comfortable shoes are by the door—we are all ready to be in the Rhinelander Parade marching down Brown Street tomorrow morning starting at 11 a.m. If you have children staying with you for the weekend you can help them come up with impromptu costumes or floats for the children’s parade which starts at 10 a.m. Children need to be lined up at 9:30 a.m. by Zion church across from the police station. Contact the Rhinelander chamber for more info on either parade. READ MORE >
