Hodag swimmers down Lakeland
Daily News Sports
Thursday marked the first time the Rhinelander pool had been used by the boys' swimming team since it was down for repairs over the past couple of weeks when Lakeland came to town.
Despite winning by a 100-67 final, the score did not reflect the way the swimmers performed individually for both teams.
“Overall I think we did pretty good,” Rhinelander head coach Amber Laggis said. “I was worried that [the score] could have been a little bit closer, but I tried to move the kids around a little bit.
“They were excited to finally get practice. They know that the pool is back and we don't have to worry about where we are gonna go, so they were ready.”a
Rhinelander started off by taking second in the 200 medley relay. The team of Luke Wegehaupt, Alex Jones, Joel McReynolds and Rick Walter finished with a time of 2:04.91.
Andrew Baker (2:09.95) scored a win for the Hodags in the 200 Freestyle and Walker (2:18.77) came in second followed by Nick Cirilli (2:20.85) in third.
