Re: Senior Center

The talk of having the Senior Center downtown by some of our leaders seems to prevail right now, but I would prefer a nice peaceful location on the edge of town. May I suggest the Hanson Lake property off Highway 47 that the City already owns.

It has easy access and we could build an affordable place overlooking the lake. I understand there are some restrictions to maintaining a park-like environment on the property, but this could be overcome I would think. Seniors are very active and could help develop the area into something very useful and nice over the years. I am thinking bike trails, walking/ski paths, etc.

As our climate changes and more seniors are moving to the area, I can't see being stuck in a hot downtown location with little parking at that. A place on Hanson Lake could provide many Seniors a place to “cool off.” We don't all have air-conditioned homes. I'd call the place the “Senior Park Center.”

I'd like my friends to write on this important issue.
