August 11: New Horizons Music Festival in Manitowish Waters, Highway 51 Airport Road, featuring Three Dog Night, America and Charlie Daniels Band. Gates open at noon. August 15: 27th Annual Paul Bunyan Fest, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., downtown Eagle River. Features chain saw carving demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors, live musical entertainment, and food.

In the early morning hours of May 20, 1990 Susan Poupart walked out of a Lac du Flambeau house party never to be seen alive again. Several months after she disappeared, Poupart's remains were found in a remote part of the Chequamegon National Forest.
