Man in critical condition following ATV accident
by Daily News Staff
A Tomahawk man is in critical condition after crashing his ATV while riding with his dog on his lap.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, Norman Bushor, 65, of Tomahawk was operating his ATV on Loop Road in the town of Bradley Saturday when the vehicle flipped.
According to a witness, Bushor was northbound on Loop Road when his dog either fell from his lap or jumped from it. Bushor stopped the ATV and began backing up at a fast rate to get to where the dog landed. The ATV, a 2004 Polaris, was swerving (according to marks at the scene) and as Bushor tried to stop it flipped over, throwing him to the pavement.
The witness called 911 and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, Lincoln County Ambulance and the Wisconsin DNR responded.
Bushor was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk and was then airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield where was listed in critical condition Monday morning.
Bushor was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin DNR and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.
