Identity theft workshop designed to inform seniors
Older adults are invited to attend “Don't Be a Victim of Identity Theft” workshop being held on Wednesday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the YMCA of the Northwoods in Rhinelander. This event is being co-sponsored by the Oneida County Department on Aging and the Vilas County Commission on Aging.
“Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personal information to commit fraud or other crimes,” says Geri Wallin, Oneida County Department on Aging Benefit Specialist. “Older adults can be particularly vulnerable to how easily thieves can gain access to Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or other information and then cause endless problems like taking out credit cards in your name or removing money from your bank accounts,” added Wallin.
Cost for this workshop is only $5 per person and includes registration fee, morning refreshments, lunch and all materials. Advance registration and payment is required to attend this event.
For more information, or to register, contact the Oneida County Department on Aging at 369-6170 or 800-379-7499.

Turkey hunting - challenge greets success
Ask most anyone who has hunted turkeys in Wisconsin about their hunting experiences and you will get a variety of answers. For example, if you ask my hunting partner of many years, “The Osseo Jinx”(Tom Twesme), he will most likely respond that there isn’t anything to it. His usual answer is that you do not need much time to kill a turkey. Ask our son, Craig, or me and our response might be something like “Heck, the darn things must wear armor and they are nearly impossible to kill.” READ MORE >
