Wednesday is weather radio day
The National Weather Service and Oneida County Emergency Management are sponsoring National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio All-Hazards Day on May 16.
NOAA Weather Radios broadcast 24-hour per day weather coverage and directly emits watches, warning and post-event information for natural, environmental and public safety hazards.
NOAA Weather Radios can be used as an around-the-clock source of weather information to prepare for approaching storms, while traveling, or while boating or camping.
Hearing and visually impaired individuals can be alerted to severe weather by connecting NOAA Weather Radios with external alarms to other types of attention such as strobe lights, pagers, bed shakers, etc.
Weather Radio Receivers are available at local electronic stores or from Oneida County Emergency Management. Make sure it has seven channels, an automatic warning alert feature and battery backup to allow for local programming capabilities. Call Oneida County Emergency Management at 715-361-5167 for more information.

Turkey hunting - challenge greets success
Ask most anyone who has hunted turkeys in Wisconsin about their hunting experiences and you will get a variety of answers. For example, if you ask my hunting partner of many years, “The Osseo Jinx”(Tom Twesme), he will most likely respond that there isn’t anything to it. His usual answer is that you do not need much time to kill a turkey. Ask our son, Craig, or me and our response might be something like “Heck, the darn things must wear armor and they are nearly impossible to kill.” READ MORE >
