Montezon receives certification

Katherine M. Montezon, CTR, an employee at the James Beck Cancer Center, has received the Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential by the National Cancer Registrars Association's Council on Certification. In September 2006, Montezon was one of 220 candidates successfully completing a comprehensive written examination on principles of cancer data abstracting and registry management.

Montezon joins over 4,000 others worldwide that have met extensive education and work experience requirements for certification as a credentialed Cancer Registrar. This profession is dedicated to the collection of cancer data that is used to support clinical care of cancer patients and investigation in the causes and effective treatments for the many forms of this disease.

The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) recently announced that Sacred Heart-Saint Mary's Hospital employees Nancy Stefonek, RN, CDE has renewed her Certified Diabetes Educator status by successfully completing the continuing education renewal option process and that Karina Reilly, RD, CD has successfully completed the Certification Examination for Diabetes Educators.
