Man pleads not guilty to multiple drug charges
By Daily News staff
A Lac du Flambeau man entered pleas of not guilty to felony and misdemeanor drug charges filed in two different cases when he appeared in Vilas County Circuit Court Tuesday.
James D. Williams Jr., 31, 2821 Cemetery Rd., returns to court July 10 for pretrial conferences. If the state and defense fail to arrive at a settlement, the cases will be scheduled for trial.
According to the criminal complaint, Williams is alleged to have dealt drugs, including cocaine, marijuana and Oxycodone in the Lac du Flambeau community.
A motion by Assistant District Attorney David Breedlove to dismiss a felony charge of child abuse-intentionally causing harm was accepted by Reserve Judge Raymond Thums.
Breedlove said the dismissal, without prejudice, is "based on a recent interview with the complaining witness." The state reserves the right to refile charges if new evidence becomes available, he added.
